Avenches National Equestrian Institute (IENA)
The Avenches National Equestrian Institute offers equestrian sports, races and disciplines all on one site. Racecourses and various grounds are at the disposal of both amateurs and professionals.
Dedicated to the development of equestrian activities, the Avenches National Equestrian Institute (IENA) hosts about thirty competitions a year. Trotting and galloping, pony riding, obstacle jumping and training competitions: participants can even do several competitions at once if they wish.
For training and competing in the various equestrian disciplines, IENA owns three racecourses, countless grounds, rings, paddocks and a restaurant.
The Avenches National Equestrian Institute (IENA) was inaugurated in 1999 on grounds covering 142 hectares obtained from the national stud farm, whose hundred-year-long activities were reduced. All umbrella associations of the Swiss equestrian world are present in the site’s management company.
The races in Avenches are part of the Pari Mutuel Romand races, which pays back a part of the winnings into the development of equestrian activities.
