Avenches - Exposition
The exhibition "CSI: Aventicum" or how the inhabitants of the capital of Switzerland lived can be seen in the Roman Museum in Avenches.
***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***
Museum closed until 28 February!
Following the new measures taken by the Council of State in response to the Covid-19 crisis, the Roman museum in Avenches will remain closed until 28 February.
A human skeleton is discovered.
Who was this person?
What is his story?
The CSI: Aventicum exhibition seeks to explore the lives of the inhabitants of the Roman town of Avenches through the study of their bones and teeth and through analyses using state-of-the-art techniques that today provide a better understanding of their daily lives.
The study of skeletons is an essential field of research to understand the populations of the past, their state of health and illnesses, their eating habits and mobility, their cultural and environmental influences.
The past is embodied in these people, sometimes affected by the premature death of their child, sometimes suffering from an essential vitamin deficiency, a decayed tooth, a broken bone or joint pain. This overview highlights anonymous people, like a whisper of stories they have to tell us.
